Ruins of the Vermillion Bird Temple - Surochi
Like Midora and Monkhu, the first settlers of Surochi were nomadic outcasts from the Shilon Kingdom. They ventured past the mountain ranges in the south believing it would grant them solitude. Struggling to survive in this dry settlement, they found spiritual guidance from the Celestial Vermillion Bird; Suzaku. One of the Four holy beasts, associated with the element of fire, the season of summer, and the direction of south. Ever since the settlers built temples and shaped their customs around this emblematic figure in exchange for guardianship and sustenance.
